You are allowed nine months from the time of enrollment to complete your course. You will be given a completion deadline at the time of enrollment.
Typically our courses require a minimum of three to four months to complete. This timeframe varies by course and number of credit hours. If you need to complete more quickly, you must contact our office prior to enrolling to see if a shorter timeframe is possible for your course.
If you have a specific completion deadline, it is important that you consult with our office prior to enrolling to ensure you will have adequate time to complete the course. It is your responsibility to submit assignments and make regular progress in the course to allow you to complete by your deadline.
Your final exam must be taken, not graded, before your course expiration date.
You may consider a three-month course extension to help you complete. Additional information can be found in the extensions section.
If your course expires, you will not be able to submit additional coursework or take exams. No refunds are available for courses that expire. If you would like to complete the course, you will be required to reenroll and pay in full for the course. In some situations, it may be possible to transfer grades for coursework completed during the first enrollment. Contact the Student Services office to see if this option is available for your reenrollment.
If you intend to apply KU Independent Study toward graduation or certification requirements, please complete all coursework, including examinations, by the date listed below according to the semester in which you intend to graduate.
