Most KU Independent Study courses have one or two exams: typically a supervised midterm and a supervised final. Check the study guide or online syllabus for the specific requirements for your course. The Independent Study office cannot provide details on the format, length, or nature of the exam, other than the information already provided in the study guide or online syllabus.
Due to security and exam integrity considerations, students must turn in their exam to a staff person before leaving the testing area. In addition, completed examinations are not returned to the student. Instead, we will mail a grade report containing instructor comments and the exam grade. Students wishing to review the actual exam may schedule a viewing time at the Continuing Education building or at an off-site testing location with proctor supervision.
If you are not enrolled in the KU Independent Study program and need an exam proctored contact KU Testing Services at 785-864-2768. KU Testing Services will proctor exams from other institutions, employment exams and national admissions exams. KU Testing Services does not proctor KU Independent Study exams.
