Enroll anytime*. You have six months** to complete your course.

*KU degree-seeking students using financial aid to pay for their enrollment(s) must enroll within the timeframes listed below. Contact the KU Financial Aid office at (785) 864-4700 before enrolling. Additional paperwork is required. Payment is due in full at the time of enrollment. The KU Financial Aid office will then work with you to reimburse your payment.

  • Fall 2010: Enrollment is open from August 2 until September 16, 2010
  • Spring 2011: Enrollment is open from December 18 until February 17, 2011
  • Summer 2011: Enrollment is open from May 21 until June 20, 2011

**Active military students and students residing outside of the United States will have nine months to complete their course. KU degree-seeking students using financial aid must complete their coursework by the end of the semester in which they enroll. Refer to Course Completion Deadlines for more info.

To enroll in more than two courses at once, you must obtain permission. Please contact Independent Study.

Graduate students enrolling in courses numbered 100-900 are required to pay graduate tuition and fees, regardless if the course is taken for undergraduate or graduate credit.

Attention current KU students: If you have a hold on your student account (parking hold, past due balance, etc.) you will not be able to enroll in an Independent Study course. Please clear your hold before completing the online enrollment form.

Attention previously enrolled KU students: If you’ve previously been enrolled at KU (or have ever applied for admission), but you are not enrolled in on-campus classes for the current semester, additional paperwork may be required. Contact Independent Study at enroll@ku.edu before completing the online enrollment form.
